The cage is built from welded steel mesh panels on a folding frame, with side and end panels that fold flat against the base when not in use, so an empty cage takes up a fraction of the space a loaded one does. Rated load capacity typically runs from 500 to 1,000 kg depending on gauge and construction, and locking mechanisms on the fold points keep the structure rigid and secure once loaded and stacked.
